The original recipe for Ballymaloe Relish was created more than 70 years ago by Myrtle Allen.  She founded the restaurant and hotel at Ballymaloe House with her husband Ivan and went on to become the first female in Ireland to be awarded a Michelin Star. Many years later in 1990, her entrepreneurial daughter Yasmin started Ballymaloe Foods, working from a portacabin and selling Ballymaloe Relish at local farmers’ markets. Today it’s still a family business and is managed by Yasmin’s children; Maxine, Rosaleen and Seán. Now the Ballymaloe Foods product range includes over 30 products and is sold all over the world, but the focus still remains the same; using the best quality natural ingredients to create delicious food accompaniments for people to enjoy
