Blanquette De Limoux Elégance
The city of Limoux in the Languedoc is surrounded by vineyards. Wines here are produced under four AOC designations, two of which are Blanquette de Limoux and Crémant de Limoux. The main grape used for these sparkling wines is Mauzac, locally known as Blanquette.
It is believed that the world’s first sparkling wine was produced in the region of Limoux in 1531. This wine region is to the eastern foothills of the Pyrenees and beside the fortified city of Carcassone. The climate is Mediterranean but subject to strong winds, while the rocky clay, sandstone and limestone soils create a distinct terroir.
