NELKARISI

The NELKARISI cellar is built on the site of an ancient city, Nelkarisi, home to a Mithraic culture of which winemaking was an important part. Today, NELKARISI make classic Georgian wines under two brands: IKANO, which pairs local grapes and traditions with international ones, and FRIENDS’ CELLAR, a collection of classic wines made under traditional Georgian winemaking methods.

The vineyards are located in the Kindzmarauli micro-zone, an area of only 120 hectares located on a junction of rivers. During harvesting, the delicate grapes are carefully handpicked using selective methods, and small wooden baskets are used for transportation to the winery.
