Organic Wine

While we carry a number of organic wines, we’ve chosen just two of our passionate winemakers to feature for now. Don’t forget to look out for the organic icon when browsing the rest of our site.

Claire Allen and daughter Sohie at Huia

Huia Vineyards

Claire and Mike Allen, having worked in the industry for years, always had a dream of creating their own wine and did so when they set up Huia Estate back in 1996. Their passion is overflowing and is truly infectious. From the very start they set about creating New Zealand’s premium sustainable and organic winery. Their family’s love of music seems to dance through the vineyards as though each wine was created around a piece of music.

Huia Vineyards are over achievers in the world of organic and biodynamic practices. A wide diversity of plant, insect and animal life flourishes in their vineyards, nurturing rich soils and bringing fabulous flavours to the grapes. Working in harmony with the land around them, everything used in production is composted and returned to the earth. Their vegan-friendly wines are created without the use of artificial additives, leaving the wines full of natural texture.

Gagliardo Vineyards

Poderi Gianni Gagliardo

Legends of the region, when it comes to real passion for making great outstanding wines Stefano Gagliardo and his brother stand a head and shoulder above so many. They live and breathe their wine making, always trying to work with nature to create a work of art.

Having taken over from their father the great Gianni who still works in the business, they have always worked to what their father had instilled into them and that is the importance of high standards.

These family-owned vineyards in Piedmont have been producing fine wines since the 19th century. They keep their soils thriving using a holistic approach that combines organic certification, biodynamic principles, and a love for detail, always focusing on the well-being of the vineyard and safeguarding the environment of the future.

In crafting their wines, they look for balance, elegance, and purity of expression; if a wine does not meet their high standards, it isn’t released.
