Vina Eguia
La Rioja is a region located in the north of the Iberian Peninsula. The river Ebro runs from one end to the other, forming a deep valley, while mountains line the horizon to the north and south. Between the Mediterranean and the north of Spain, La Rioja has been used as a thoroughfare since ancient times, providing a beautiful backdrop for incessant human movement.
The Vina Eguia winery and vineyards were established in 1973 in Elciego, a historic village in the Rioja Alavesa, and purchased by Bodegas Muriel in 2010. Bordering the Basque region, the language spoken here often includes Basque words such as “Eguia,” meaning “truth”. The brand is symbolised by a hand on an open book, evocative of swearing on a Bible.
